Nerja, Costa del Sol

Nerja, Costa del Sol is the little picturesque town 45 minutes by car east of Malaga airport with the best climate in Europe.

More and more begin to discover the wonderful gem, Nerja, on the eastern Costa del Sol, Spain. In May 2016 Nerja won a large international vote and was awarded ”Spain’s most beautiful costal village”. When the travel magazine Vagabond rated resorts along the Spanish suncoast, Nerja was the only resort that was honoured with the absolute highest score. In January 2018 the large travel agency, Tripadvisor appointed Nerja as one of the 10 trendiest destinations in the world https://www.vagabond.se/artiklar/resmal/20180116/topp-10-trendigaste-destinationerna-i-varlden-enligt-tripadvisor/

Nerja has everything, several lovely beaches, beautiful caves, a large number of golf courses, skiing in Sierra Nevada, Granada with the Moorish Alhambra, bath in hot springs in the mountains, the beautiful mountain village Frigiliana, the ”ham village” Trevelez, Gibraltar (2 hours by car) and much more.

Nerja is a charming, genuine Andalucian town with its whitewashed houses, palm trees and colourful flowers. The old town’s winding alleys is a home for many tapas bars, restaurants and small shops that leads down to the famous Balcón de Europa where you have an unbeatable panoramic view of the coast towards Africa. Nerja has a lovely climate with mild winters and pleasant summer days due to that the city is protected by the mountain range, Sierra Almijara. The mountains create beautiful scenery together with the contrasting turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Thanks to the favourable climate with more than 320 sun days per year a large variety of sub tropic fruits, such as mango, orange, avocado, grapes and olives are grown here, the climate can be compared to southern California. The landscape offers hiking trails in the mountains and lovely bathing bays with small caves along the preserved coastline. Some larger beaches can also be found, for example Playa de Burriana surrounded by restaurants and bars. One of Spain’s most popular and spectacular places, Cueva de Nerja, is found only 10 minutes from Nerja. Around 55 minutes by car from Malaga.
